Loynton Trout Fisheries is widely regarded as one of the Midlands’ premier fly-fishing destinations, set within the stunning grounds of the Loynton Estate on the Staffordshire/Shropshire border, near Norbury. With three spring-fed lakes covering 12 acres of water, it offers classic lowland fly fishing with a genuinely remarkable head of large trout.
The fishery is stocked with quality rainbow, blue, and brown trout with regular catches of double-figure fish and 20lb+ specimens caught throughout the year. The fishery’s lake record stands at an exceptional 28.5lb rainbow. Three lakes give anglers options across the seasons and conditions, and the spring-fed water keeps quality high year-round. No boobies, wagglers, or pellet flies allowed; this is a fly-fishing-purist venue with a strong ethic. Catch-and-release tickets are available alongside standard tickets.
On-site facilities are excellent: a modern fishing lodge, The Tickled Trout café overlooking the lakes (offering excellent-value breakfasts and homemade lunches), full toilet block and showers, and a Caravan and Motorhome Club Certificated Location with hard-standing pitches and full electric hook-up — perfect for those who want to fish for several days. Fly-fishing tuition is available with Orvis-endorsed guide Steve, catering for novice through to experienced anglers. Corporate fishing days are also offered. SatNav warning: the entrance is via the driveway immediately off the A519, not deeper into the estate. Contact: 01785 284261. Address: Loynton Trout Fisheries, Nr Norbury, Staffordshire ST20 0QA.
