Established in 1911, Liverpool & District Angling Association (LDAA) is one of the oldest angling associations in the UK and a cornerstone of canal fishing in the North West. The Association controls fishing rights along approximately 20 miles of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal, from the Saracens Head at Halsall all the way through to Eldonian Way on the edge of Liverpool city centre, and downstream to Albert Dock.
Beyond its home canal stretches, LDAA holds reciprocal partnership arrangements with Port Sunlight AC, Lymm Anglers, Dee Anglers, and Darlech AC, opening up further fishing on the Shropshire Union Canal and the River Weaver to members. Known species across the partnership waters include chub, perch, roach, gudgeon, bream, carp, and tench, with the canal stretches consistently producing quality nets year-round.
Annual full memberships are purchased online and run to 31st December each year. Day tickets are available exclusively on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal stretches; all other waters are members-only. The Association runs an active match fixtures calendar and a growing programme of matches, with results and rules published to keep both pleasure and match anglers in the loop. Based at Rosemary Farm, Downholland, LDAA remains a serious operation built around a serious tradition of urban and canal angling on Merseyside.
