Cudmore Fisheries

Cudmore Fisheries sits within the historic Whitmore Estate near Newcastle-under-Lyme, just off junction 15 of the M6 and is widely regarded as one of the top angling venues in the UK. The fishery began life in 1988 when estate owner Edward Cavenagh-Mainwaring transformed an 80-acre site into what’s now a 13-lake complex with 110 drive-to pegs and a national reputation for fair, well-stocked match fishing.

The classic mixed-fish lakes are stocked with bream, common carp, mirror carp, F1s, crucian carp, tench, barbel, roach, rudd, perch, chub, and ide. Three specimen lakes hold quality carp exceeding 30lb and catfish to over 80lb, alongside large pike. Cudmore has hosted some of the biggest match events in the country, including Maver Match This qualifiers and the Grand Final of Fish’O’Mania, its reputation as the angling equivalent of an FA Cup venue is well-earned.

Day and night fishing are both available, with bookings accepted up to 28 days in advance via the online booking system. The on-site Cake Shack café offers indoor and outdoor seating with views over Swan Lake, alongside a tackle shop, disabled access throughout, and full facilities. Strict but fair rules apply: minimum 15lb breaking strain line, barbless hooks only, all nets dipped, and fish handled with proper care over a mat or cradle. A working venue, run by anglers, for anglers.
