Hereford & District Angling Association

Association 📍 HR1 1AA West Midlands
UK Fishing Club Finder

Hereford and District Angling Association manages several stretches of the legendary River Wye, one of the finest coarse fishing rivers in the UK and a destination for serious barbel and chub anglers from across the country. HDAA’s waters cover the Belmont stretch in Hereford itself, plus access at Breinton and other beats further up and downstream, alongside fishing on the lower River Lugg.

The Wye through Hereford is internationally famous for its barbel, with double-figure fish a realistic target on the right day. Chub, perch, pike, and the occasional salmon and trout add variety, and the river also holds grayling on its higher reaches and tributaries. The Lugg waters offer a quieter alternative with strong grayling populations and beautiful surroundings around Eyton and Lyepole.

Day tickets and annual memberships are typically available through Woody’s Angling Centre in Hereford, run by champion match angler Paul ‘Woody’ Woodward, whose knowledge of the Wye Valley is unmatched. At around £5 per day for visitor tickets, the Wye through Hereford remains one of the most accessible big-river fisheries in the UK.

For barbel specialists, holiday anglers, or anyone within reach of Herefordshire, HDAA membership opens the door to some genuinely special fishing.
