Canal, Reservoir, River
Established in 1911, Doncaster & District Angling Association (DDAA) is one of the largest and most historically significant fishing clubs in the North of England and home to one of the most feared match squads in the country, now sponsored by Daiwa and known competitively as Daiwa Doncaster AA.
The club controls miles of fishing rights across the South Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire region, including a prime stretch of the River Don from Sprotbrough Weir downstream to the second railway bridge at Doncaster, a deep, wide stretch up to 15 feet down the centre and roughly 30 metres across. The transformation of the Don over recent decades has been remarkable: a river once written off as polluted is now arguably set to become the most prolific of all the Yorkshire rivers, something genuinely unthinkable just two decades ago.
DDAA also controls part of the Stainforth & Keadby Canal from the New Junction Canal at Bramwith Lock, plus stillwaters including the popular Long Pond, a favourite for its easy access, parking, and excellent stock of coarse fish, with a few carp over 20lb but better known for its tench and silver fish. The River Torne, a 13-metre-wide drain through North Lincolnshire, completes a varied portfolio that caters for pleasure anglers, specimen hunters, and serious match competitors alike.
