Lake, Reservoir
Barnt Green Fishing Club is a long-established trout and coarse fishing club founded in 1888, situated close to the Lickey Hills on the southern edge of Birmingham. The club’s purpose has remained consistent for over 135 years: to provide high-quality fly fishing for trout in attractive, peaceful, private gated surroundings, managed by a full-time keeper and a member-drawn committee.
The club has three trout waters. The largest is Lower Bittell Reservoir, a 23-acre water offering both bank and boat fishing, with four boats provided free for members. The second is Mill Shrub, a 4-acre water with ample bank fishing and a single boat. Both these waters sit within a Site of Special Scientific Interest, giving the fishing a uniquely protected, natural character. The third is a one-acre spring-fed pool, providing intimate bank fishing for quality trout.
Coarse anglers are amply catered for with two additional lakes that hold a varied stock. The combination of trout and coarse waters makes Barnt Green unusually flexible for a fly-focused club, and the SSSI designation means members are fishing in genuinely beautiful, conservation-managed countryside on the edge of the city.
For Birmingham, Bromsgrove, and Solihull-based fly anglers, Barnt Green is one of the most prestigious local memberships available.
